About Nejo
Carlos Daniel Crespo Planas artistically known as "Ñejo" was born on June 20, 1975, since he was very young he became interested in music, showing his talent in schools and in several local venues in Ponce Puerto Rico where he began his artistic career.
Carlos Daniel began to improvise from the age of 12, living in Ponce he emigrated to San Juan to look for better possibilities to exploit his artistic vein, since in this place the musical and commercial industry enjoyed greater development. His musical taste started with Rap in Spanish although he has never had any problem in enjoying all kinds of music. Ñejo says that if he did not have artistic potential, he would be a merchant, and he takes his profession with great passion, which for him is not his job but his hobby.
He was introduced to the reggaetón / hip-hop genre at an early age by his older brother. After his brother went to New York for the holidays, ñejo received all the hip-hop and 'underground' music that was on the street at the time. Ñejo had the benefit of listening to very different booms to those who were in Puerto Rico at the time and to films such as Beat Street, all of the experience of the stuff of his grandmother's house in Ponce introduced him to a different whole level of hip-hop in this first moment of his life, while he began to listen to the influences, such as the boys and events fat boys and electro boogie movement. Ñejo also legitimized underground movements that happened in Puerto Rico watching TV and listening to underground tapes.
In 1997, Ñejo had to make a drastic change to improve his situation. He woke up on a Tuesday morning, bought a pair of jeans, a pair of T-shirts and two pairs of new sneakers and his brother took him to a rehabilitation program. This decision at a crucial moment was the best decision I made, since he has been clean since the program ended. After overcoming this great ordeal, Ñejo, he prepared himself with maturity, and participated in productions such as "DJ Joe 6", "The Noise 9", "fatal fantassy", "fatal fantassy 2", "fatal fantassy 3", "Guatauba XXX", (with the hit "Let That Note Get You Up"), and Los Que la Montan from Plan B. He collaborated on fatal fantass and 2 with his frequent artistic partner, Dalmata. With the help of Dj Nelson, Flow Music Corp. In February 2006, Ñejo's voice and lyrics were also requested for an exclusive session of a recording with Damián Marley.
